Using the Salary Calculator
Enter your monthly inputs and get an accurate net salary breakdown.
Opening the Calculator
Tap the Salary tab to open the Salary Calculator. This is where you enter your monthly variable inputs — the numbers that change each month — and see your full salary breakdown from gross to net.
Selecting Month and Year
At the top of the calculator, select the month and year you want to calculate. Each month is calculated independently, so you can go back and recalculate previous months or plan ahead for future ones.
Entering Your Monthly Inputs
The calculator shows input fields for every variable component enabled in your Pay Profile. Only components that need monthly input appear — fixed amounts like Basic Salary are already set in your profile. Common inputs include:
- Block hours flown — total hours for the month
- Sectors operated — number of flight legs
- Domestic layover days — days spent on domestic layovers
- International layover days — days spent on international layovers
- Overtime hours — hours above your base threshold (if overtime is enabled)
- Extra inputs — any additional variable fields from your profile
Reading the Breakdown
Once you enter your inputs, AeroLedger calculates your salary in real time. The breakdown shows:
- Each earning component with its calculated amount
- Gross salary — total of all earnings
- Each deduction component with its calculated amount
- Total deductions — sum of all deductions
- Net salary — your take-home pay (gross minus deductions)
All amounts are displayed in your chosen currency using consistent formatting throughout the app.
Saving the Calculation
Tap Save to store the salary record for that month. Saved records become part of your financial history — they appear in your Statistics and can be referenced later. Each month can have one saved salary record. If you recalculate and save again, the previous record for that month is updated.
Sending Salary to Budget
After saving, you can send your calculated net salary directly to the Budget Planner as that month's income. This eliminates manual re-entry and ensures your budget is based on your actual take-home pay.
Note: If the Budget Planner already has income set for that month, AeroLedger will ask you to confirm before overwriting. This prevents accidental data loss if you've already entered income manually.
